Half Hearted is a one-of-a-kind mixed media artwork made from the remnants of a larger work.
Born in the aftermath of pain and change, it holds tension on the surface — red mesh pressed into plastered whites, raw against calm, struggle against surrender.
The Story
Half Hearted was constructed from the back of a larger project — formed from scraps and fragments left behind.
What began as remnants became a physical manifestation of conflict: red mesh pressed against plastered whites, raw against calm, struggle against surrender.
It is a half-given heart. The kind you offer when you’ve been hurt but still feel. A heart that beats unevenly yet refuses to stop.
Layers of texture and broken surface reveal an ever-changing flow of empathy — messy, imperfect, alive.
For me, this piece sits in the tension between holding back and giving anyway. It asks: when your heart is only half there, is it protection — or survival?
